I try to add new items to the shop each week (although some weeks this doen’t happen) or to relist items that have not yet sold. This means that the front page of Polyclarific’s Etsy shop will change on a regular basis. What’s on the front page right now? Here’s a peek:
To visit the Etsy shop please click here. If you would prefer to pay in Australian dollars you can try the MadeIt shop (which has less in it than the Etsy shop) which is found here.
If its hearts you are after for your Valentine then you may just find what you’re after here at Polyclarific. I am able to custom make hearts for you with initials or names scratched into the surface. These can be made into earrings, pendants, magnets or rings. Contact me if you are in need of anything like this.
In the meantime, here’s my selection of hearts which are available in the shop. Click on each image to go directly to their listing.
I love flowers and all things to do with them. I love their smell, the variety of colours and textures, the way that some become fruit and most of all how much they light up a room. This is apparent in my work as there are quite a few floral based items in the shop. I thought I’d share a few items with you that would perhaps brighten someone’s day. Just click on each picture to go directly to its listing. Enjoy!
Recently I had a request for a set of buttons with gumnuts on them. For those who don’t know what a gumnut is, its the ‘capsule’ for the flower of the Eucalyptus tree. These are very common here in Australia and there are many different colours and shapes depending on the species. Here’s a photo of one from our own garden:
So, here is a step by step series of photos showing how I created the gumnut cane. Enjoy!
Thank you to all those who entered my giveaway! It was great fun hearing which of the items in the shop you preferred. After using a random number generator the winner is…….

I have continued to prepare to put more items in the shops by taking many photos of those yet to be listed. At the moment there are 208 items in the Etsy shop and 38 in the MadeIt shop. I will be adding more to the MadeIt shop as time goes by. For now, this is the stash that is listed, doesn’t look like much but every bead, pendant, ring, bookmark, miniature and more is right there.
Here is some of what is yet to list:
Not shown are the remaining beads that need to be photographed and listed also. So, as you can see there will be a steady stream of new items in the stores in the near future. Please let me know if you are after anything in particular, its quite likely that I’ve made it already!
You may have seen some intricate polymer clay work around which has detailed images or patterns embedded in the clay and wondered, ‘is that painted on?’, ‘how do you do that?’. This technique is called millefiori, here’s its dictionary definition:
mil.le.fi.o.ri
–noun
decorative glass made by fusing multicolored glass canes together, cutting them crosswise, joining them into new groups, embedding the groups in transparent glass, and blowing the resultant mass into a desired shape.
Also, mil.le.fi.o.re.
Origin: 1840–50; < It, equiv. to mille thousand (< L) + fiori, pl. of fiore < L fl?ri- (s. of fl?s) flower
Here is a picture of some of my millefiori cane work:
Canes are created by rolling long tubes of clay and forming them into shapes. Clay is packed around the shape to hold it in place. This is similar to the way they make lollies with names and logos in the center at places like Roc Candy. As you can see, my canes are tiny, usually no bigger than a few centimeters across. Many people make canes the size of a dinner plate, like this one.
There are many great tutorials on-line for how to make the cane but this is where I started, on Heather’s Over The Rainbow tute. It was seeing this while visiting her site to buy jewelery findings that I got the polyclay bug.
After creating your canes you can make all sorts of things with them such as is seen in these photos;
Pendants
Beads

Caning can be a challenge but once mastered its very rewarding. Why don’t you have a go?
